The Sacred Earth: Common Ground event will take place Saturday May 4 from 2:30-5:00 PM at the Southwestern Research Station conference room. There will be five guest artists sharing their poetry, prose, and music inspired by nature: Poets Bruno Talerico and Nora Snyder will share some of their nature-inspired poetry, our own Marilyn Tully will read some of her prose, local guitar wizard Sue Burkhart will perform her ode to Portal, and Bellingham environmental singer/songwriter Dana Lyons will sing a few songs from his new album Cracks in the Heartland. For a portion of the event we will break into “story circles” of 6-7 people where participants who wish to do so can share a 3-minute story about a time when they experienced a deep connection with nature or felt they were standing on sacred ground. The local organizing committee (Paul Hirt, Ray Mendez, Marilyn Tully, and Penni Parrish) thank you for your interest and support of this community event. We will provide snacks and beverages, both alcoholic and nonalcoholic, and there will be time to socialize after the story circles. Please take a look at the attached flyer for more details.
